Spouses of Malawi Defence Force (MDF) personnel at Kamuzu Barracks received a significant boost to their sporting activities today, following a generous donation of assorted sports equipment from Titan International. The handover ceremony took place at the Kamuzu Barracks Netball Ground.
The donation comprised netball jersey kits, sports shoes, track suits, and balls. This gesture is intended to encourage greater participation in sports among spouses, while promoting health, fitness, and overall well-being.
Speaking at the event, Titan International Project Manager, Ms. Angel Chisindo, expressed appreciation to the MDF for its warm reception of the organisation. She underscored Titan’s belief in unity and togetherness, noting that sports serve as a powerful vehicle for building community bonds and enhancing physical health.
“Sports promote unity, health, and physical fitness. This donation will greatly benefit what we call the other half of the military,” Ms. Chisindo remarked. She further highlighted that Titan International has previously partnered with other security services and was delighted to extend its support to the MDF.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Malawi Defence Force Spouses Association, Mrs. Bessie Phiri, spouse of the Commander of the Malawi Army, conveyed heartfelt gratitude to Titan International. She described the initiative as timely and impactful, particularly in strengthening the health and fitness of spouses.
“We are so grateful for the donated items,” Mrs. Phiri said. “The donation has come at a time when the team was in need of such equipment. It is both a relief and a blessing to the Malawi Defence Force spouses based here at Kamuzu Barracks.”
