Since 2013, MDF deploys a battalion to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) under the United Nations Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO)’s Force Intervention Brigade (FIB). Malawi also has a battalion under the Southern African Development Community Mission in Democratic Republic of the Congo (SAMIDRC)
Apart from this contingent, MDF also deploys Military Observers (MILOBS) and staff officers in the DRC, Western Sahara, Sudan and South Sudan.
