9 Malawi Rifles, the Mountain Buffaloes of Changalume Barracks, have retained the 93 Brigade March and Shoot Championship after emerging victorious in the 2026 edition of the competition, held from 8th to 9th September in Zomba.
The competition involved three units within the Brigade: 1 Malawi Rifles, 9 Malawi Rifles, and the Artillery Battalion. Participants underwent a series of tests, including inspection, Voice Procedure (VP), obstacle crossing, first aid, and shooting.
After completing the tests, 9 Malawi Rifles emerged champions and took home a cash prize of K500,000. This marked the battalion's second championship title, having also won the 2024 edition of the competition.
The victory has earned the Unit a place in the Army-level edition of the March and Shoot Competition, where it will compete against units from all Brigades in the coming weeks.
