General George Alexander Jaffu Jnr, Chief of Defence Force of the Malawi Defence Force (MDF), on Friday, 11 September 2026, led members of Joint Headquarters Staff on a 13-kilometre Route March held in Lilongwe.
The march started from Kamuzu Barracks, proceeded through the Malawi Institute of Sports, continued via the City Centre, passed by the Presidential Villas, and ended back at the barracks.
The Chief of Defence Force was accompanied by his Deputy, Lieutenant General Desmond Simba Chawanda; the Joint Chief of Staff, Major General Richard Tobias Chagonapanja; all Chiefs of Directorates; and Senior and Junior Officers, as well as Senior and Junior Non-Commissioned Officers, from the Headquarters.
Route Marches such as this form part of the MDF's ongoing efforts to enhance the physical fitness of service members while fostering camaraderie and esprit de corps within the Force.
