A delegation of Senior Officers currently studying at Zambia Defence Services Command and Staff College (ZDSCSC) is in Malawi for a week-long educational visit aimed at enhancing professional knowledge, exchanging experiences and strengthening military cooperation between the two countries.
Colonel Elias Zulu, leader of the delegation, paid a courtesy call on General George Alexander Jaffu, Jnr, Chief of Defence Force, at the Malawi Defence Force Joint Headquarters in Lilongwe.
During the week, the delegation will visit the Malawi Defence Force Command and Staff College (MDFCSC) in Salima for an exchange of views on professional military education, staff training and doctrine. They will also visit the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Thyolo to learn how academia contributes to national development and security. The programme will also expose the students to Malawian culture and the wider national context.
Regional study tours give senior officers the strategic exposure that classroom study alone cannot provide. They allow students to observe how other nations organise their defence institutions, balance the instruments of national power and respond to shared regional security challenges.
